Why the limitation of 30 seconds per move? I don’t see how it makes sense to pay for a subscription here if I can’t even reach a depth of 30 for Stockfish 17.1 when I can reach way more than 30depth on lichess or on a local software? I don’t understand why the limitation, whats the difference between thinking 2 minutes on one move or thinking 30 seconds on 4 different moves?
Hi, MagicAce1988!
IF…
- You need 30 depth for every position you analyze
- You only use the latest version of Stockfish
- Your own computer and phone or tablet can reach 30 depth faster than LCM
THEN…
There’s no reason for you to pay for an LCM subscription.
However, most of us don’t have that kind of speed on any of our devices. We also don’t need to go 30 deep on every position (and actually you can get at least 30 depth on MOST positions with NCM). Plus, we like to analyze not just with latest version of Stockfish, but also Lc0 and some of the other 60+ engines NCM offers. Thus, for us, NCM is well worth the 5 cents per day!
That said, do I ever wish I could analyze certain positions for 5 or 10 minutes, or even an hour with NCM?
You bet! ![]()
